Top Ten TV Shows
Okay, you busted me. I confess: I don’t watch a lot of TV at the moment. I watch some, but not a lot. So, sadly, this list is incomplete. I’m not currently watching 10 TV shows. How embarrassing is that?
1) Survivor
- Oh, the drama! The conditions! The betrayals, and blind-sides! Human nature fascinates me, as well as Jeff Probst’s blue button-down shirts. I have loved this show from the beginning and I still watch it religiously to this day.
2) The Good Wife
- The single-handedly best-written show on network TV. These characters are smart and powerful and tricky and sleazy and sexy and I love them all. Except Peter. I pretty much hate him. I even like David Lee more than I like Peter, so that’s saying something.
3) Project Runway
- Oh, the fashion! The drama! The personalities! The drop-crotch pants and clothes that any normal woman wouldn’t be caught dead in, but wow – I can’t stop watching for some reason. Also, I very seldom agree with the judges which makes me wonder if they do that on purpose. AMANDA! YOU WERE ROBBED.
4) Downton Abbey
- My husband refers to this show as “Downtown Abbey – where people sit around talking while looking constipated” and he’s not wrong. But I love British shows lately because they don’t follow the same formulaic structure as 99.9% of American TV does, and it’s nice to watch something unpredictable.
5) Doctor Who
- I don’t mind confessing that when Rose Tyler left the show I was emotionally devastated and that’s not even an exaggeration. I actually stopped watching for a year, and it wasn’t until my husband got into it that I started watching again. I have a very strong opinion on each Doctor and each companion, and if I had 10,000 words to this blog post I’d get specific, but for now, just know that I love this show (some episodes more than others), but nobody will fill the hole in my heart left by Rose and the Doctor. Nobody. I don’t want to talk about it anymore…::sniff::
6) Face Off
- This is a little known show about movie makeup artists that airs on SyFy and if you love movies, makeup, creatures, artists, and artistry, it’s worth a watch. I personally love it on a deep personal level every time I hear Vee Neill call somebody’s work “Bitchin.”
7) House of Cards
- Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are acting gods and I want to lick their boots. This is some of the best TV writing and acting EVER IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION, so it comes as no surprise to anyone that it doesn’t air on network TV, but on Netflix. Go. Watch. Now. That’s an order.
8) Agents of Shield
- This show got off to a rocky start for me and I almost bailed in the middle of season 1. But I love the Marvel world, and I love action, and I love heroes, so this show, despite feeling like an action hour from the 1990s, is still in my DVR rotation despite the fact I truly only care about 2 characters, Fitz and Simmons. For the record: Dear Whedon Brothers – FIX FITZ, YOU ARE KILLING ME!
Sadly, folks. That’s my entire TV list.
There are a few other shows I’ll watch when they’re on, but they hardly warrant mention.
The truth of the matter is that I’m into video games right now, so if I had a choice between watching TV and shooting aliens, I’d rather shoot aliens.
